EU-supported Consultation Workshops on the Establishment of the Fund for Promoting Energy Conservation and Efficiency
Hanoi, 11 August 2026 – Through the EU–Viet Nam Sustainable Energy Transition Technical Assistance Facility (EVSET), under the EU–Viet Nam Sustainable Energy Transition Partnership (SETP), the European Union (EU) is providing technical assistance with the aim of delivering recommendations to support the Department of Innovation, Green Transition and Industrial Promotion (IGIP), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), in developing an Energy Efficiency Fund model.
As part of this support, a study has been prepared, examining international experience, particularly from EU Member States, as well as lessons learned from relevant funds in Viet Nam. IGIP will cooperate with EVSET to organise three workshops (in Ha Noi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City) to present the study and provide an opportunity to exchange views and discuss the specific issues addressed in this study, including the organisational model, operating mechanism, sources of financing, forms of support, and the roadmap for establishing the Fund.
The first workshop will be held in Da Nang on 13 August 2026 with the participation of representatives of the European Union Delegation to Viet Nam, IGIP and other government agencies, Departments of Industry and Trade, Industrial Promotion Centers, financial institutions, businesses, and energy efficiency practitioners and experts.
The EU and Viet Nam have a long-standing and increasingly broad and deep partnership in the area of sustainable development, with the energy transition being an important pillar. The EU remains committed to continuing to accompany Viet Nam in its transition towards a cleaner, more efficient and more sustainable energy system, while contributing to Viet Nam’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
