
Final Workshop on Revision of Viet Nam’s Smart Grids Road Map
Following up the Intermediate on November 2021, the Final Workshop will take place virtually on 15 March to report and put forward timely modifications based on eight indicators for evaluating Viet Nam’s progress of smart grids development. The Electricity Regulatory Authority of Viet Nam (ERAV) of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, co-hosted the event.
The workshop welcomed participants who were representatives from affiliated entities under the MOIT, ministries and agencies those are members of the Smart Grid Steering Committee, the Vietnam Electricity, the National Load Dispatch Center, the Regional Load Dispatch Center, Power Corporations, power generation companies, power companies, the Vietnam Electrical Engineering Association, power construction consulting firms, other associations, research institutes, universities, international organizations and private companies.
Speakers of the workshop who are local and international consultancy experts will address two main tasks:
– Assessment of Viet Nam’s Smart Grids Road Map legal frameworks and its’ implementing progress
– International best practices and recommendations for Vietnam’s improvement
After presentations from experts, participants will engage in discussion sessions to exchange ideas and propose optimal solutions for the improvement of Vietnam’s Smart Grids Roadmap.
The Final Workshop was part of the Smart Grids for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SGREEE) Project, which is jointly implemented by ERAV of the MOIT, and GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
To support the Vietnamese Government, GIZ – on behalf of the German Government – has implemented the SGREEE Project since 2017. Under the project, the “Smart Grid Viet Nam Knowledge Hub” http://smart-grid.vn/ was created as the country’s first public platform to share concepts, solutions, experience, development progress and official documents related to smart grid applications in the country. A Facebook group named “Smart Grid Viet Nam Network” https://www.facebook.com/groups/smartgridvn was set up for national and international experts to discuss and share their professional experience about smart grid solutions, their applications, and trends in the country and worldwide. The group now has more than 850 members.
