Girls and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for a Sustainable Energy Sector in Southeast Asia
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) promotes gender equality to propel economic growth and social development through projects such as Enhancing Equality in Energy for Southeast Asia (“E4SEA”) and Engendering Industries (“EI”). Gender equality, in which both men and women have equal opportunities and contribute to economic, social, cultural and political development, is now known to be critical for business success. A growing body of evidence underscores the correlation between increased representation of women in corporate leadership roles and stronger business performance and outcomes.
USAID E4SEA supports South-South cooperation, which the United Nations refers to as the technical cooperation among developing countries in the Global South, through the Quaterly South-South Knowledge Exchange. It is designed to be a platform various stakeholders in developing countries to share experiences, insights, and build on lessons learned in our effort to promote women’s participation in Southeast Asia’s rapidly transitioning energy sector for inclusive and sustainable development of the region. One of the key factors for the low representation of women in the energy sector in SE Asia and globally is the low number of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.
USAID/RDMA Enhancing Equality in Energy for SE Asia (E4SEA) would like to invite you to Girls and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for a Sustainable Energy Sector in Southeast Asia – USAID/RDMA Enhancing Equality in Energy for Southeast Asia (E4SEA) Quarterly Meeting for the South-South Knowledge Exchange at 07:00 – 08:15 PM (Bangkok Time, ICT +7).
