The World Bank Group is supporting the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) to develop an offshore wind sector plan as part of overall Viet Nam’s national marine spatial plan which is currently under development by MONRE. The aim of this assistance is to assess the technical, environmental, and social conditions relating to offshore wind in Viet Nam, to identify the most economically viable development areas and the sequencing for such areas to be developed. The assistance will provide spatial analyses and advice to the Government of Viet Nam on different deployment scenarios that can be implemented to achieve the country’s offshore wind targets.The World Bank Group (WBG) commissioned for this assessment the consortium composed of BVG Associates (BVGA), the Institute of Energy (IE), Royal HaskoningDHV (RHDHV) and the Biodiversity Consultancy (TBC).

To finalize the offshore wind planning report, the World Bank in coordination with MOIT and MONRE would like to invite your organization for a consultation workshop on January 17, 2024 (from 14:00 -17:00pm) at the World Bank Office with the below tentative agenda.

The Consultant team will present the following topics:

• Offshore wind sector planning methodology
• Environment and social risk assessment for offshore wind development
• Offshore wind development zoning
• Interconnection arrangements
